When Your December Feels Too Heavy to Lift

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul.” — Hebrews 6:19

Every year, December shows up like a surprise houseguest—even when we’ve known she was coming for eleven months. She brings joy, twinkle lights, peppermint mocha everything… and sometimes, if we’re honest, a whole lot of emotional clutter.

But hope isn’t something we muster up. It’s Someone we lean on.

Jesus came into a weary world like a whisper. Complex, quiet, and full of meaning. He shook the foundations of what had been and offered an alternative. A place we can always harbor, no matter what the sea is like.

Hope is not a feeling. It’s an anchor. Anchors don’t stop storms—they keep you steady in them. Anchor your faith in Jesus. Period. Irregardless of feelings or situations trust that He is our salvation, our comforter, our hope.

If your December feels especially heavy this year, remember: Hope has already come.

Apply it: Write down one place in your life where you feel unanchored. Stop and give it to Jesus. Trust Him. Move on.
