Robyne Recommends: Author, Ruth Chou Simons
If you’ve ever felt exhausted trying to do all the things, be all the things, or just tryinig to figure out why you’re in a hard season—you are not alone. And that’s exactly why I love recommending authors who speak straight to the heart, with both grace and grit.
I’m a little slow to this party because this author has been around for a while, but she is recent discovery for me. I tried to whittle down to one, but could not, so I am recommending two books by the incredibly gifted Ruth Chou Simons. She’s a writer and artist who brings biblical truth with beauty and depth. Her words feel like sitting across the table from a friend who loves you enough to tell you the truth—gently, but clearly.

1. When Strivings Cease
This book is for every woman who feels like she’s striving to be enough and to meet the expectations of others. Ruth walks through the trap of performance and reminds us that we don’t have to hustle for God’s approval—we already have it. It’s honest, gospel-centered, and full of freedom. If you’re tired of trying to measure up, read this one with a highlighter in hand. I ended up reading this in one sitting.

2. Now and Not Yet
This one? It’s for the waiting. The in-between. The places where things haven’t worked out yet—and you’re not sure if they ever will. It was a great reminder to the ever-impatient me, that it is okay to wait. To be patient in the waiting. Ruth reminded me that even in the middle, God is present and working. It’s a book full of hope, quiet strength, and truth for the slow-growing seasons we all go through.
Both books are filled with powerful, faith-centered reminders and thoughtful reflection questions. They’re more than books—they’re invitations to rest, trust, and breathe again.
So if your heart needs a reset, grab one (or both). You’ll be encouraged, strengthened, and reminded that God’s grace is always enough.
