Do You Measure God’s Blessing by Your Circumstances?

As Christians it’s easy to think that when life is going well, it must mean God is blessing us—and when life gets hard, that we have done something wrong. I want to gently offer a different perspective for you to consider.

Sometimes, God’s greatest blessing in the middle of a challenging situation is simply His presence.

Recently, I’ve been walking through some tough personal situations. Honestly, it is a trial. The situation is heavy, unresolved, and completely out of my control. At first, I questioned whether I was facing this because of something I had done. I happen to be studying Galatians, so I dug in and also spent more time in prayer. I searched my heart and laid before the Lord that I felt He wasn’t with me. That I didn’t understand why this was happening.

I didn’t have any great revelations or hear a response. But I kept spending time in the word and prayer.

Then one day it became clear: this season isn’t about punishment—it’s about presence. These trials have become a blessing because they’ve allowed me to feel God’s presence in a way that’s hard to describe. There’s a quiet joy and steady peace in the storm, not because it’s easy, but because He is here.

God is with us in the good times, but there’s something powerful about knowing—truly knowing—He is still God and still present when life feels uncertain and when it is downright crashing in around us.

I encourage you to spend some time in Galatians this week. Let it remind you of God’s grace, His promises, and His unwavering presence.

With faith,
